Wayfinding Redesign

For this project, the goal was to pick a local public space and redesign the wayfinding system. I found that the wayfinding system for Kildonan Place mall was fairly inconsistent. The newer sections of the mall used these black signs with dark wood accents, while the older parts used gray signs with metal accents that included the mall’s logo. It looked like the mall was in need of a new and consistent wayfinding system.

Here are my sketches and idea process, I wanted to include a bit of both systems in my design. Since the mall’s logo is a leaf, I wanted to incorporate that into the signage. Having all of the signage be fairly leaf shaped.

In my finished design the signs would be constructed from a light wood and would include light up plexiglass accents the same green colour as the logo.
